Matching Gifts Program

Many companies offer matching gift programs to encourage employees to contribute to charitable organizations. Most of these programs match contributions dollar for dollar, and some will even triple the amount of your gift! Ask your Human Resources Department if your company matches gifts.

In 2012, Pedal received over $15,000 in matching gifts! 100% of that money went to cancer research. Imagine how much more we could donate if EVERYONE received matching gifts from their company!

Common questions you might have about submitting for matching gifts:

Who do I talk to at my company about this?

Normally your HR representative will be able to direct you to the companies' intranet or correct paperwork and will be able to walk you through the process.

What will I need to submit my request?

You will need the tax receipt you received from Pedal the Cause either by email or mail (depending on if you made your donation online or sent a check in).

Typically, you will also need Pedal the Cause's 501 (c) status paperwork. If so, please email Carrie Benson, Chief Operations Officer, to get this document at carrie@pedalthecause.org.

How long does this process take?

Typically it will take a couple of weeks, depending on when you submit your paperwork and your companies' payout schedule. Companies review each request on a quarterly basis and we have found that 6-8 weeks is a normal payout schedule ONCE approved. Please ask your HR rep for their payout schedule.

REMINDER: Fundraising closes on October 31st. If you would like this matching donation to be applied to your 2013 fundraising, SUBMIT EARLY to ensure that it arrives by the deadline!
